How to use this tool
- Set the date and local time (or tap Now).
- Choose the source time zone — your local zone is detected automatically.
- Add up to six comparison cities. Read times, day shifts, and UTC offsets — Copy all to paste into Slack or email.
Meeting times without the DST traps
Remote teams still burn minutes guessing whether London is on BST, or whether “EST” means New York in January. Abbreviations are ambiguous; fixed GMT±N tables go stale twice a year. The reliable approach is IANA identifiers (America/New_York, Europe/London, Asia/Tokyo) plus the rules for that exact date.
DevDock converts entirely in your browser with Intl.DateTimeFormat, using the same IANA data your OS and browser ship. No server round trip, no hardcoded offset spreadsheet — summer and winter answers stay honest as browsers update tzdata.
Converting Unix epoch numbers? Use the Unix Timestamp Converter. Checking when a schedule fires next? Try the Cron Explainer.
FAQ
How accurate are the conversions?
Results use your browser’s built-in IANA time zone database (via Intl). Daylight saving, half-hour offsets (e.g. India), and date-specific rules are applied for the exact moment you enter — not a fixed GMT±N table.
Why do I need a date, not just a time?
Offsets change with daylight saving. The same 2:00 PM in New York is UTC−5 in winter and UTC−4 in summer. Picking the date keeps the answer correct.
What if the local time does not exist?
During spring-forward DST gaps (for example 2:30 AM when clocks jump to 3:00 AM), that civil time never occurs. The tool warns you so you can pick a valid minute. During fall-back overlaps (the repeated hour), one valid instant is chosen.
Is my schedule uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your last comparison zones are stored only in localStorage on this device.
Is this the same as a Unix timestamp converter?
No. This tool converts wall-clock times across cities (meetings, launches, support hours). A Unix timestamp converter maps epoch seconds ↔ dates — a different job.
