How to compare two texts

  1. Paste the original text on the left and the changed text on the right.
  2. Watch the live diff: red for removals, green for additions, word highlights on edits.
  3. Toggle Side by side or Inline, and optionally ignore whitespace or case.
  4. Swap panes, clear, or copy a unified diff when you need to share the delta.

Why a private text diff still matters

Policies, emails, configs, and copy decks change in small ways that are easy to miss in a chat window. A live visual diff keeps both versions on screen while you edit, highlights exact word changes, and never requires uploading sensitive drafts. That iteration loop is what AI one-shot compares cannot replace.

FAQ

Is my text uploaded when I compare?

No. Diffing runs entirely in your browser. DevDock does not send your original or changed text to a server.

What do Ignore whitespace and Ignore case do?

They change how lines are matched. Display still shows your real text, but lines that only differ by spaces or letter case can count as unchanged.

Side by side vs Inline?

Side by side shows original and changed in two columns. Inline stacks removals (−) and additions (+) like a classic unified diff — better on narrow screens.

What does Copy diff give me?

A simple unified-style text with − removed lines and + added lines, ready to paste into notes or chat.

Can I diff code or config files?

Yes. Paste any plain text — source, JSON, YAML, logs, or prose. This is a text diff, not a binary or git patch viewer.
