How to generate a URL slug

  1. Paste a page title (or switch to Bulk for one title per line).
  2. Pick hyphen or underscore separators.
  3. Optionally strip stop words or cap length at 60 characters.
  4. Copy the live slug into your CMS, docs, or repo path.

Why clean slugs still matter

Permalinks show up in search results, shares, and bookmarks. A short, readable path beats a raw title dump full of punctuation and filler. Generating slugs in the browser keeps drafts private and rules consistent — lowercase, ASCII accents, hyphens, no surprise uploads — before you publish.

FAQ

Is my title uploaded?

No. Slug generation runs entirely in your browser. DevDock never sends your titles to a server.

How is a slug different from kebab-case?

Kebab-case is a naming style. A URL slug also strips punctuation and emoji, folds accents to ASCII (café → cafe), collapses junk into separators, and can drop stop words or cap length for cleaner permalinks.

What does Strip stop words do?

It removes short English fillers like a, the, of, and in from the slug so paths stay shorter while keeping the meaningful words. Turn it off when readability matters more than length.

What does Cap at 60 characters do?

It soft-truncates at about 60 characters, cutting on a separator when possible so you do not end mid-word. Useful for SERP-friendly paths — review before publishing.

When should I use Bulk mode?

Paste one title per line to generate one slug per line — handy for migrations, CMS imports, or batching blog posts.
